When I purchased my house it only had a fireplace for heating during the winter. I installed a fireplace stove insert immeditely, however the house was always a bit chilly. We burned oak 24⁄7, it was just never enough.
After a few years I’d finally had enough. I demolished the existing chimney and installed a massive soapstone wood stove.
